Mad Tom Notch 12 - August 30 2019

Trail magic was a bit different this time as I stayed overnight in the little campsite just north of the magic site. Fifteen happy hikers were served on the first day. Some men on the trail wear kilts, they say the kilts work pretty good. The day produced two kilt wearers, I've never had more than one a day until now.

The night sky was dark and clear so I lay on my back in the parking lot for a while looking at the stars. City folks really can't appreciate how many stars there really are.

On the morning of the second day I wandered up to Griffith Lake and Peru Peak shelter, a round trip of about five miles. Only two hikers wandered through on the second day. I suspect all the northbound ones were staying in Benington for the Garlic Festival.
